Between Bets: 2024 College Football Week 2 ATS & Total Picks

#14 Tennessee @ #24 NC State | Saturday, 7:00 p.m. ET

We’ve got a ranked showdown in Raleigh, N.C., as the No. 24 NC State Wolfpack host the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers, who come in as 7.5-point favorites. Tennessee looked sharp in Week 1 under their new starting quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, who threw for 314 yards in a dominant 69-3 victory over Chattanooga. The Vols also showcased their ground game, with Dylan Sampson taking 12 carries for 124 yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side, NC State had a slower start against West Carolina, trailing 21-17 heading into the fourth quarter before scoring three unanswered touchdowns to win 38-14. While the history between these two programs is limited (they haven’t faced off since 2012), Tennessee’s early-season form suggests they have the upper hand. Our early lean is to back the Volunteers to cover the spread.

Pick: Tennessee -7.5 (-108)

Arkansas @ #16 Oklahoma State | Saturday, 12:00 p.m. ET

The SEC’s Arkansas Razorbacks head to Stillwater, Okla., for a noon showdown against No. 16 Oklahoma State. The Cowboys opened as a 9.5-point favorite, but the line has since shrunk to eight points, likely due to Arkansas’s dominant 70-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their opener. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State hit the over in their Week 1 win, taking down SDSU 44-20.

Both teams have been over-machines, each hitting the over in their past five games dating back to last season. With offensive firepower on both sides, including Oklahoma State’s standout running back Ollie Gordon, this matchup has all the makings of another high-scoring affair. We’re leaning toward the over here.

Pick: Over 60.5 (-108)

Boise State @ #7 Oregon | Saturday, 10:00 p.m. ET

Saturday’s primetime College Football slate takes us to Eugene, Ore., where the No. 7 Oregon Ducks host Boise State. This matchup has seen some of the most intriguing line movement early in the week. Oregon opened as 24.5-point favorites, but that line has since dropped to as low as 18.5 points.

This adjustment might be due to the impressive performance of Boise State’s RB Ashton Jeanty, who exploded for 267 yards and six touchdowns in their 56-45 win over Georgia Southern.

Despite Boise State’s offensive showcase, we’re not sold on their ability to keep this game close against a stacked Oregon team. The Ducks underwhelmed in Week 1, winning 24-14 against Idaho as 43-point favorites. Yet, they have too much talent, including QB Dillon Gabriel and WR Tez Johnson, to not cover at home. Oregon should bounce back in a big way, and we’re confident in laying the points here.
