Week 2 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Week 1 of the NFL provides all the feels: Excitement for the big plays, trepidation over start/sit decisions, heartbreak on the close losses and panic when players underperform. However, that panic from other managers is what may help you close a Week 2 fantasy football trade and boost your squad.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Trade For: Tank Dell (WR, Houston Texans)

Sunday gave fans their first look at the Houston Texans’ wide receiver trio, including Nico Collins, Tank Dell and the newly acquired Stefon Diggs. Diggs found the end zone twice, while Collins led the team in targets, yards and receptions. 

While Dell finished with fewer than double-digit PPR points, here’s why you should remain optimistic: 

• A nice 69% of C.J. Stroud‘s passes went to the wide receiver position. 
• Stroud had 38 dropbacks; Texans continue to sling it
• All three Texans wide receivers were on the field for over 80% of snaps. 
• Dell earned two designed run plays on top of his seven targets
• Dell had 105 air yards; he’s running extensive dynamic routes

You might experience games where the production lags for Dell, but the same could be said for any Texans WR. However, Dell’s boom games will be worth it, so go out and get him. 

Trade Away: Jameson Williams (WR, Detroit Lions)

If you’ve held on and you’re still a Jameson Williams truther, then “Sunday Night Football” provided one of the most euphoric highs you can have in fantasy football. Williams had the best game of his NFL career, torching the Rams for 121 yards on five catches, including a 52-yard touchdown. It was a great game for” Jamo.”

However, it’s important to note that Amon-Ra St. Brown is still the alpha on this team. Per Jacob Gibbs on Twitter/X, Sunday’s contest against the Rams was the first game of St. Brown’s career where he had a snap rate over 75% but fewer than 10% of Detroit’s receiving yards. St.

Brown has been too prolific over his NFL career to expect this low production to continue. The pendulum should swing back to St. Brown, who is an alpha target earner. When it does, Williams could need extreme efficiency to be valuable for fantasy. This potential shift in performance dynamics should be a factor in your fantasy football trade decisions. 

I’d test the waters and see if fantasy managers believe this was Jameson Williams’ coming-out party. Between his off-season hype and his Week 1 performance, he could demand a haul. 

Trade Radar: Bucky Irving (RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Bucky Irving made a compelling case for himself during his NFL debut. He led the Buccaneers in rushing yards, with 62 on just nine carries, and outperformed his counterpart Rachaad White, who saw 15 carries but was kept in check for only 31 yards on the ground. White did most of his damage through the air, racking up six catches for 75 yards. 

Head coach Todd Bowles has been pretty true to his word in that White would be the first player up in receiving touches, and then other players would be worked in. But after Irving provided the most explosive play of the day for Tampa Bay on the ground, a 31-yard scamper, he may start demanding extra touches. The Buccaneers trust White in pass protection the most, and he’s likely to continue seeing the bulk of the backfield targets. 

For now, Irving seems to be the direct insurance policy should anything happen to White. However, the Oregon product’s performance on the ground and his potential to demand more touches make him an exciting fantasy football trade target for your team.
